FAQ
Q. What does ACS do?
ACS organises and administers outsourced services, allowing our clients to focus on their core activities. This alleviates the headaches of administration and reduces the cost of compliance.
Q. How is this different from being placed by an employment agency?
When someone is placed by an employment agency, the placement is governed by various awards and industrial relations requirements. Being placed as an independent contractor through ACS removes the restrictive nature of many industrial relations requirements.
Q. How can ACS operate without these restrictions?
In 1991, a ruling was handed down by the High Court that allows companies such as ACS to operate. The court recognised that agency contracting differs from the normal employer/employee relationship, and should be treated as such.
Q. Who would use ACS?
Individuals utilising the ACS are those people who have recognised that concentrating on their core skills brings the best result not only for themselves, but also for their client.
Q. Do I have to draw up contracts?
No. A simple, plain english contract that has been tested in the High Court is supplied by ACS.
Q. How long does this contract stay in force?
All contracts supplied by ACS run on a day-to-day basis.
Q. Who determines the rates?
Both Client and contractor rates are negotiated by ACS. These rates reflect and reward high performance and flexibility on the part of the contractor.
Any further questions that you may have can be answered by your local ACS representative.
